  Staff Bios:

Laurie DuPaul, Executive Director
Laurie has her Masters Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and a Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Science with a psychology concentration.  Previously, she was the Project Director for Keeping Children Safe Downeast (KCSD) in Washington County, Maine.  KCSD was a Safe Start initiative through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to reduce the impact of violence for children aged birth to six.  It was one of eleven pilot sites nationwide.

David Champion - Fatherhood Educator
David holds a BS degree in primary education with a concentration in special education. His past experience includes working with York County Early Head Start as a home visitor. In this role he was able to model the importance of the nurturing father with many young dads in the Biddeford/Saco area. Currently, David works as a children’s mental health case manager with Spurwink where he focuses on helping families relieve stressors associated with a child suffering from mental illness.

Debbie Duross, Program Coordinator
Debbie joins us again, after a brief hiatus, in the position of Interim Development Coordinator.  Previously she was with the Child Abuse Prevention Council for six years.

Leah Paltanawick,  Prevention Educator
Leah has a BS in Business Administration, and has recently completed the Teacher Certification Program at the University of New England for Grades K-8.  During the last five years she has been working in local elementary, middle and high schools, as an Educational Technician, an Intern and a long-term substitute teacher.  She loves teaching and creating exciting ways to reach children.

Denise Dion-Sullivan, Community Outreach Coordinator
Denise studied Psychology in college and previously worked as a Director of several private Nursery Schools, as a Head Start Teacher, and an Art and Play Therapist for Abused Children. Prior to working with children, she worked in Women's Shelters and in a Psychiatric Emergency Setting as a Crisis Intervention Counselor. Denise most recently was a stay-at-home Mom for 18+ years and during that time volunteered at local schools and ran several Internet businesses. She also was a volunteer and Board Member of York County Shelter Programs, Inc., as well as a Board Member and volunteer for the Church Community Food Pantry of the Kennebunks.

Our volunteer team of over 200 generous women and men continuously help CAPC in a variety of ways, either on our fundraising projects or working directly with our programs. We are grateful for every minute our volunteers dedicate to our mission.
