Respect for Youth |

School
based prevention education programs that encourage respect
for self and others. By building cumulatively upon the reciprocity
of respect, students who participate in different aspects
of Project Respect are exposed to the connections
between respect and the prevention of abuse. The programs
described are available to all schools/organizations in York
County.

Every
year, hundreds of children in York County are affected
by the different forms of child abuse and neglect. Recognizing
that importance of empowering children, our 5 th and 6
th grade program, Break the Silence: Kids Against Child
Abuse , talks with children about the different types of
child abuse. The
ultimate goal of this 90-minute presentation is to help children
identify safe adults that they can ask for help to stop the
abuse for themselves or for a friend. FREE -

Our
middle and high-school program utilizes the nationally
recognized Baby Think it Over computer simulated babies
as a strategy to teach child abuse prevention. These
50-minute presentations include discussion and information
about the different types of abuse, Shaken Baby Syndrome,
risk and protective factors associated with child abuse
and neglect, stress identification and safe baby care.
The goal of this presentation is to help adolescents understand
the challenges and realities of caring for infants. FREE -
